Secondary Schools in Woodley
There are two secondary schools in Woodley and naturally there is a lot of rivarly between them!
Here are details about the two schools
Bulmershe opened in 1964, orginally as the local grammar school. It is now a comprehensive, specialising in sport. The adjacent leisure centre opened in 1971. The school has the following aims:
- To deliver a high quality education through all subjects taught and to promote positive personal development through the combined effect of the form and informal curriculum;
- To be attentive to invidividual needs, both academic and pastoral, through a comprehensive monitoring and support system which emphasises the positive at all times;
- To foster the qualities of caring and the extension of sympathy, understanding and respect for others.
Waingels College opened as Waingels Copse School in 1971. It has 1,500 pupils attending. On the school site is an adult education centre linked to Bracknell & Wokingham College. The college is regulary in the top 200 in the country for exam results.
