Allotment Project

For some time, JAC has been fortunate to have use of a large allotment in Earley. This has been a great opportunity to get young people involved: tidying the allotment, planting seeds and learning about horticulture and plants. It is a real education for the young people to see the fruits and vegetables grow - rather than seeing them on a supermarket shelf.  

Working at the allotment not only gives lessons in horticulture, it teaches young people to follow instructions and how to work in a team.  It also gives JAC staff the opportunity to engage with young people in an open environment.
