If you interested in a Christian wedding, different churches will have their own arrangements. We would encourage you to visit the church you are considering getting married in and find our more about what is involved and meet members of the community and the leadership.

If you are planning to get married in an Anglican church there is some guidance below which we hope you will find helpful.

Getting married in a Church of England Church

There are now new rules in place called the Church of England Marriage Measure which make it easier for couples to marry in a C of E church.

Couples can now marry:

   - Anywhere they have lived for 6 months or have regularly attended services for 6 months;
   - Where their parents or grandparents were married;
   - In the parish where one of the couple has been baptised or prepared for confirmation;
   - In the parish where any parent has lived or regularly attended services for 6 months or more in their child's lifetime.

The following rules still apply:
     - Banns of Marriage must be called for three Sundays running, within three months of your wedding day. This is a legal requirement.
     - Couples can choose from two orders of service, either traditional or contemporary.
